Granfoss Nord Tunnel
Granfoss Nord Tunnel is located in Norway and the white concrete is actually made of precast elements, mounted on-site on special anchoring devices.
The precast white concrete elements are produced in special curved molds and the thickness of the element is approximately 15 cm. Normally, a waterproof insulation layer is installed on the backside of the finished element to protect from freezing and to prevent water flowing from the rock through the concrete. The elements are installed on spheric anchorages in the ground, and fixed to the rock at the sides of the tunnel by two anchored bolts per element.
After the white concrete elements have been installed, the "ceiling" of the tunnel is covered with shotcrete.
