History of the Plant
In 1997, Lehigh's York plant celebrated 100 years of producing white cements. The plant is known for being the first white cement producer in the world. The current production line for white cement went into service in 1962.
HeidelbergCement Group purchased the York plant from the Medusa Cement Company in 1982 and made numerous changes to improve efficiencies and quality. In the years since the original purchase, continual improvements have been made to the operation of the plant and to meet environmental standards.
