Ballston Point Office Building
Architect: Davis Carter, Scott, Mclean, VA
|Ballston Point serves as an entry into Ballston and is situated at the intersection of two major thoroughfares. Making it fit into a tight triangular site proved to be challenge. The building office area would have to offer 268,000 square feet in rentable area with sufficient underground parking and during construction, Ballston Common Mall’s anchor tenant needed full access to the shopping center with no disruption to their underground parking structure.
The solution for the triangular site was seveloped by having the building rise from a two-story triangular base. The design provides the efficiency of rectangular space despite the shape of the site. The building is crowned with a cornice element designed to give the building a striking presence. The facade of the building uses openings in precast concrete made from Lehigh White Cement, with high performance window systems to provide the building’s unique look.
